Road Trip

Friday began a very busy weekend for us. We got up early that morning and headed back to Durham to get the very last stuff out of our house and say our goodbyes. We were sad to be leaving our little townhouse. We really loved living there and it will always be our first home together. Even though Andy moved in there a couple weeks before our wedding (I think he'd worn out his prolonged stay at the Roarks!), I wouldn't let him sleep in our room or use any of the gifts we received for our wedding until i got there too!

We had to sign some closing documents and be back over in Wake Forest for Jacob's graduation from seminary by 10 am. Congratulations Jacob! (he's in there somewhere)

I think this is Jacob walking back after receiving his diploma

and i think this is Jay getting his

this is definitely Jacob!

We had family lunch then back at J&Cs. Will was helping Adeline break out of the carseat

As part of Jacob's graduation gift, Andy passed on this infamous piece of mystery meat. This piece of meat has lived in our freezer for the last four years after being in the Mariner house for 2 years and in the Trinity apartment before Andy moved in there. We have no idea where it came from or even what kind of meat it is anymore. But it lives on. I have tried to discretely throw it away before but Andy dug it out of the trash. Now it's Christina's turn to try and get rid of it! maybe she'll have more luck than i did. (and no pictures of jake's other present cause Gray maybe getting one too one day =))

our sweet niece and nephew!

And then about 1:00 we left wake forest and headed west!! Our goal for day 1 was to make it to Nashville, TN. Somewhere just west of Asheville we had our first casualty.

Apparently Andy though mouth-to-mouth resuscitation an appropriate course of action. Sadly, the swedish fish did not make it. (Actually andy had dropped it on the drive and had a big sticky spot on the seat of his pants which i found amusing)

We passed Harmon's Den and I thought of my friend Katie thinking about the Harmon clan and smiled.

And then we made it to Tennessee and on to Nashville that night. The last 30 minutes of that drive were the hardest of the whole trip for me. It had be a long day with an early start and late end but we made it safe and sound and stayed with my friend Angela who is an intern in pediatrics at Vanderbilt.

days 2 and 3 to come along with pictures of our new little house (which i just love!)
