the caller-pillar room

Back in April, we took the plunge and moved Ben out of his crib and into his new room in preparation for Lester's arrival (then only 3 months away).  He was still sleeping great in his crib so it was hard to change what wasn't broken!

We tore apart the guest bedroom to make a space for bunk beds. This is what it looked like right after I got the bedding on - since then I've added a few more things to his room.  He calls it his "caller-pillar bed"

And this is what the rest of the room looked like as we tried to figure out what to do with everything that has been shoved in that room

We moved all of Ben's clothes and toys into his big boy room.

When we moved all his toys, he proceeded to dump every basket right on top of his bed

Later that day, we got him all tucked in his big boy bed!
He really did great with the transition.  The first night, it took over an hour for him to go to sleep and we saw a lot of this ...

i think he must have covered the length of the bed 100 times in that hour. He settled in to night time sleep pretty quickly - naps took a little longer and there was a lot of this:

but he really did so much better than I thought.  There is a bookshelf at the end of the bunk beds to keep him from climbing up the end of the beds to the top bunk so it's not uncommon to find things like this when we check on him at night =)

and he looks like such a big boy!

Ben had done so remarkably well not getting out of his big boy bed - he sits in the bed and yells "Wanna get out!" .... until this weekend.  He just discovered this weekend after two months that he can get out of his bed and open his door. So we have found him just standing quietly behind us after naps or peering over the edge of our bed early in the morning! So we are working on that.  And then last night, we found him 45 minutes later, sitting in his floor playing with toys with his lamp turned on and his sound machine turned off!  gonna have to work on that...
