this year I took butternut squash casserole, corn, fudge, pumpkin pie and chocolate chess pie. Amazingly NO ONE out here has ever heard of chocolate chess or even just chess pie out here! I couldn't believe it. Not that it's all that complicated but growing up it was always my favorite pie that Grandmother (Dad's mom) would get from a bakery in Graham, NC.
So I tried making one this year ... I blame it all on the altitude.
We took it anyway for comedic relief - and it actually still tasted really good and was at least a cursor introduction to chocolate chess pie out here!
My pumpkin pie turned out better but i've decided that i'm not a huge fan despite how much i love pumpkin

This was on my second plate of food =) forgot to take a picture of the spread of food this year

Lauren, I tried to make a Kentucky Derby pie similar to the chess pie when we lived in CO and it did the SAME thing! It totally was the altitude :) You do look great. Can't wait to hear who that little person is in there!
