"Fire on the mountain, run boys run!"

Oh dag, nothing like a little Rocky Mountain maddness to liven up the workweek. It's been dry as none other here in Dever (they say we're dryer than Pheonix, or a duck's behind... your pick) and earlier this week a lightning strike started a brush fire on the Green Mountain Open Space.

It was right here by the office (the office is right about where the Highway 70 sign is) and we had a pretty good view of the chaos.

It was a slow day so I ran out and helped.

Being an open space, there aren't any houses on the mountain itself but they are all around the base. The fire came close to a number of them and the DPD evacuated some of the neighborhoods, but I don't think any of them were damaged. We put that bad boy out in the early evening and in the end it burned almost 900 acres.

Not much to look at now, but on the bright side it'll be the greenest section out there next year.
